For two years, Palmer Land Trust has been working with partners and constituents in the western Lower Arkansas Valley to develop a land and water conservation plan. The plan is now available for public comment.
Land trusts across the US protected 10 million acres since 2006. Palmer Land Trust is one of the country’s top 25 land trusts based upon the amount of land it has protected through conservation easement.
Great Outdoors Colorado awarded Palmer $390,000 to protect the Markus Ranch. Once part of a national park proposal, it is today the last, large unprotected ranch in the Pikes Peak Conservation Corridor.
The 2011 Southern Colorado Conservation Awards documentary films feature landmark successes in conservation. The films were produced by award-winning filmmakers, Ginger Kathrens and Cyd Cohn.
